another problem!

when i am driving there is a banging noise coming from the front of the car, i think it might be around the wheel, when my accelarator is on it dont seem to bang but as soon as i take it off it starts and it the noise is faster at high speed. any ideas?

Do you just get a noise? Is there no wheel wobble say or vibrations felt through the steering wheel?

Have you had the wheels off lately? Did u tighten them properly?

Could be anything, track rod ends, drive shafts or CV joints.

It could be the front engine mount or top suspension bush you don't seem to have much look with your motor do you!!

i dont feel any vibration or shuddering. no i dont have much luck with it think i bought a f***ing shed

Thats a weird one then! No vibrations means nothing to do with drivetrain. Could be an upper engine mount, but I dont think that would be affected by acceleration.
Check to see if anything is catching say the alternator rotor.

wheel nut tightness (loose roadwheel), brake rotors or calipers loose - under power they sit up straight wi centrifugal force and go quiet but on decelleration they sag back and wobble.

Someone once tried to steal my wheels off me RS2000 (in 1984) and left only the locknut on my revolution's, which made the wheels wobble on decell but quiet on power.....i had to drive home from lakes to fife and didnt realise i had only one nut on each back wheel till later....but one wheel came off at the forth road bridge doin 60mph. I shat meself and was lucky to be alive.

We spun out across 4 lanes of traffic and struck the crash barrier at 60, bounced back and just missed an 18 wheeler artic who honked his horn as he swooshed by my spinning car, complete with screaming wife and crying baby son. My life flashed in front of me. We plunged down the Rosyth embankment (40ft) and landed on our bonnet front on another busy A road - dukes - o hazard style. How we lived I don't know. The roll cage I guess (80's fad lol)

i had a crushed vertebrae in my neck and couldnt move my head for a year! We both suffered neck and back injuries but our lad was ok.

GET IT CHECKED AT A PROPER GARAGE!!!!!

I've driven at motorway speeds with loose wheel nuts and have always had a wobble or vibration.
But yea happened once and I even stopped on hard shoulder to look and saw nothing!
Drove straight to my mechanic friend and he said you lucky!

could be, as mentioned above a wheel problem, my old man had it on his 16v renault cab, no viration felt thru the steering (though i expected it!) , think it turned out to be a bearing, i gave up when he said he couldnt feel it so he went and got a pro to look at it, the bearings didnt feel loose either though.

edit: my dad just told me it wasnt the bearing at all, it was the driveshaft and he could feel it! thats not what i heared at the time though!

think i have solved the problem  i checked all the wheel nuts last night and one of them was loose(on the wheel the banging was coming from) so tightened it an no banging this morning so hopefully thats what it was.
