GT TDI 150 Induction Kit
« on: 12 February 2007, 07:20 »
Hi.  I have a Mk4 Gt TDI 150 and am looking for an Induction kit for it.  I have come across the K&N and Pipercross induction kits as well as some other cone filter types but would really prefer an enclosed system with the direct air feed such as the Pipercross Viper system and the similar BMC system.

I see the BMC system is the same part number for the 130 and 150 engine versions but Pipercross do not have a Viper System for the 150.  After E-mailing pipercross directly they only came back with the Standar cone induction kit part number for my car which I knew anyway!

Would the Pipercross Viper system from the 130 fit the 150 and what is the differences between the two engines (apart from 20bhp!)

Would anyone recommend another system that is worth a try?  I have BMC filters on my race bike but I have to admit I was only swaying towards the Viper becasue of the looks and the cold air feed hose is of better quality.

Thanks.

Mark.

I've heard alot of people saying that induction kits have had a negative effect as in the MAF doesn't know what's going on.

if you look at

http://www.pipercross.net/kitsneeded.asp

they are actually after the PD 150 to test kits out on, so you could try that.

I wouldn't bother.  As said above it can cause more problems than benefits.

Cheers for the Info Guys.

I did E-mail Pipercross about letting them have my car but they got back to me saying they slready had a system..  They just sent me the part number for the standard induction kit and not the Viper so I just didn't bother getting back to them after that.

What about just swapping the normal filter for a Panel filter so I can re-use it etc etc?  Does this affect the MAF?  And what does MAF Stand for? I take it that its for Measuring Air Flow but guess it doesn't stand for that.

The car came with a TDI-Tuning.co.uk Box but I asked for it to be taken off before I picked the car up to see what it was like as standard.  I have looked up information on the box and not sure if I should put it back on.  Any suggestions?

Also is there anywhere to introduce yourself on the forum?

MAF = Mass Air Flow

Its worth having a proper remap rather than the tuneit box.

Thats why I never fitted the tuning box.  I might try it and see what its like. I am not going to bother spending £400+ getting a remap.  I just wanted to make sure the tuning box wouldn't damage my engine before I tried it.

Just noticed the New Forum Members section.... Schoolboy Error..
