« on: 10 February 2007, 12:06 »
a shot in the dark.. early nineties I saw a Mk2 8v & spoke to the owner who'd bought it in Germany while in the army.  It had Gti Engineering badges on the wings & tailgate & he reckoned this company rebuilt the lump, changed the exhaust etc.
Do they or did they exhist? Can't find owt on the net  :undecided:

That car looks like extremely good value from the photos. If I were in the UK, I would take a look with a wad in my back pocket. Would make an interesting project.

I think they were based on the little industrial estate on the right hand side as you approach Silverstone race tracks main entrance.. also seem to remember them pullin the plug, maybe 10yrs ago..  It could be that they suffered because of the huge increase in car crime in the mid 90s, and peoples insurances took a battering... they were a well respected outfit though.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but just found a gti engineering re 1900 8v engine for sale. Found a website for a company called BBR who do these engines so assume its still going. Any thoughts on if this would be agood engine for my 1990 gti 8v?
