what went wrong in 5 years??

Had a go in the ed30 today with a view to chopping my 25th anni in. :huh:

Each to there own and all that but No thanks.

Ill work a few extra saturdays and get a new S3 I think.

audi s3 is £27500 on the road standard, thats £5000 more than an edition 30 gti.

Don't forget the S3 doesn't handle as well as the GTI through the twisties either.  Audi created the S3 more as an Autobahn-storming, straight line rapid express, rather than the back lane scratcher that is the GTI.  That said, the S3 will still be mighty competent, but in a very different way to the GTI!

I couldnt agree more, i drove an S3 last week.....270 bhp quatro...awesome car,  left my GTI standing.
 A better comparison would be with an R32 . Still rather have the S3 though !!
p.s where has the extra 70 or so bhp come from (assuming it is the gti engine ?)

Yeah because the 25th anni mk4 GTi was a huge improvement over the the standard mk4 GTi wasn't it. They even made a 180bhp GTi not long after the anni was released, and the power upgrade on the 25th was just a remap.
