You do know that if you don't break the law by exceeding the speed limit you don't have to worry about speed cam's don't you? So sick of people moaning about them when they're breaking the law anyway! It's like someone robbing a shop and moaning they have CCTV!

i've changed my mind about this slightly now. MOST speed cameras are horrible things. some are useful -schools etc.

There's nothing wrong with speed cameras.

As long as they're in the correct places.

Putting a camera on a nice long straight stretch of road in the middle of nowhere is simply not needed.

Putting one outside your daughters's primary school...?

that is indeed a fair point. school roads should definately have them as should any roads next to play grounds or parks.

Bollocks to putting them outside schools. Yes its bad to speed past a playground with children, But heres a better idea, How about teaching your kids NOT to run in the road in the first place. You dont complain about the speed of a virgin train when a kid gets squished playing on the railway. So why on the road?

I dont speed past school zones because kids are so un educated on road safty. But almost three years ago i watched a 11 year old girl run out infront of a learner doing 25 and get hit, I was driving behind the learner. The kid ran out from behind a parked car.

hahahaha fielders a c**k. sorry but he is just a tit. What a waste of forum space for that moron.

You're having a laugh yeah !

Kids are kids, you can teach them and tell them as much as you like but it's not going to stop them running into the road if they're playing or being slightly absent minded is it. Kids minds wander and don't realise the dangers do they !

Comparing roads to rail lines is comparing apples and oranges. No-one from the public are supposed to be on railway lines, but the public are allowed on public highways, there's a clue in the title.

My nephew was badly injured last year in a very similar accident on his way to school. He ran out into the road to fetch a football and was struck. He broke his leg in 3 places, smashed his elbow up and broke his shoulder. plus road burns all down his back, leg and arm. I think that schools don't take road safety seriously enough, but kids will be kids. We didn't feel the driver involved was at all responsible  for his injuries as it could have happened to anyone! one things for sure though, my nephew will never run out into a road without looking again!
