isv again

hi anyone know if an isv for a mk2 golf would be the same as a isv for a mk3 gti ? ive seen a isv for a mk2 golf 2.0 gti 8v mine is a 2.0 16v mk3 any ideas or if your selling one lol  :rolleyes: or ive heard of people letting buzz all night how is this so does the car not have to be running to do this ? thanks jj

16v isv is different to an 8v one sorry!

Are you on crack or what?!

An ISV is an Idle Stabilisation Valve, kepps yer tickover steady. Nothin interestin and only used on 2E engines

ISVs are used on loads of VW engines, MK2 8v & 16v, MK3 8v & 16v etc.

(My 8v ADY wi simos inj doesnt have one anyway. I know that but whats letting buzz all night? hehe  :cool:

oic 'only the 2e has one, not the later MK3 2.0 8v engines' :grin:

Best way to clean an ISV, is leave it buzzing whils submerged in petrol or white spirit.  It buzzes with the ignition on ;)

Yes it can, it just needs a 12v feed to get it buzzing.
As long as you don't get any sparks you should be ok, do it in a well ventilated place and don't spill petrol everywhere  :grin:
