E30 convert.
« on: 05 February 2007, 11:29 »
Hello everyone.

After having around 15 E30's, I've now firmly moved back into the land of the Mk2!

Many years ago, when times were hard, I invested £300 in a mint black J plate 1.3 4-speed Ryder. Brand new GTI steel wheels and a 60mm drop saw me cruising around in it for 18 months before moving on to a couple of Audi Coupe V6's. Then last year, I was given an H plate 2-door 8v for free... plans saw a VR6 inplant... then funds ran out. So it had been sat in the garage un-touched for a while... until a friend saw it last week and swapped me his standard red '90 5-door 8v for it as he wants to build a twin engined VR6 machine for rallying (stupid nutter!) - so it's back to OEM style motoring in the Mk2 (while also driving an E36 328i Sport and a J plate 205 GTi 1.6).

Plans are to change the head gasket / timing belt, etc (all in progress as we speak), drop it by 60mm and keep everything else standard... even the steel wheels.

Loving it again already...

Giles.
