1.6 Driver - Weber Carb = Thirsty!

Hey, recently fitted, and got tuned a Weber 32/34DMTL carb, But it seems increadably thirsty, and theres a smell of petrol after a journey, and I'm getting about 250miles to a tankful, which works out at a painful mpg rate!

I fitted it, and then got it set up by a family friend, gas analayser etc, anybody got any ideas where I could start diagnosing the problem!

Anybody have any idea? Jetted to suit a 1.6, pulls well, but its getting expensive!

i have noticed the same with my weber at times, it was fine to start with, gave me about 350, then dropped way way down. I'm tempted to rebuild the thing, got the new flange for underneath as thats starting to split through, jsut need a service kit and sit down and do it properly..

its cause webbers arnt very good, i had similar probs when i had one on my old driver, nothing beats a well set up pierburg.

but tis getting a pb thats working well enough and isnt jamming.. ive been told the 2 best thigns to go straight to replacing are the vac pull down, or the float needle?

there used to be a guy on ebay that did a really good refurb exchange thing for pierburgs but hes vanished, but the one he sent me was easily faster than the weber, i went thru 5 carbs in a month trying to get my old driver to work and it was certainly better with the 2e2

That's what i did with mine stripped it down, used about two cans of carb cleaner and used a new service kit. the amount of crap that came out was alot. i also replaced some parts. Don't know if it helped yet

get it jetted for a 1.6 and get it krypton tuned. I have got a weber and its great i cnt fault it at all!

glad i got rid of the PB!!

basically a pierburg that isnt working 100% tends to be rubbish but when it is theres no doubt the best for the car
