Dunno about the rev counter etc, but when the MFA has knacked on mine (displayed zany characters and wouldn't do anything else when pressing the selection button), I simply took the battery connections off for a minute or so to gave it a bit of a re-boot so to speak, replaced the battery terminals and it came back to life. Not saying this will work for anyone else but it did for me. Worth a try for nothing.

......now officially dubless.

Well spent saturday taking out the clocks and changing the voltage regulator (the regulator was easy to swap) and putting it all back together just to find out it didn't work! hay ho, new clocks must be the way forward way!

grrrrrrr thats annoying!!! >:(

tried to swap wires between pre 90 & post 90 clocks.only 5 of the wires match, gave up & put an enquirey on www.partsgateway.co.uk got 4 replies, set of post 90 clocks with 60 day warranty ?30 +vat.
fitted today work like a dream. Also they are VDO clocks not motormeter
so I am expecting them to last.

I have an 86 GTi, with VDO clocks, the problem I get is when I am free whheling, the rev counter is eratic, but when accelerating the rev counter is accurate, a very strange one. Please note that these are VDO clocks and these do go faulty as can be seen.
