Looks like a diesel with the R32 front strapped on. I pity the guys who currently have an R32 which will end up looking like a MkVI diesel :smug:

VW cost cutting in action again IMO. Just look at those cheap looking Fog lights

The side indicators aren't as integrated. It looks like the designer has just thought -- Oh sh!t I forgot the side repeaters - I know I'll glue small ones on the end where it used to be on the MKV, no-one will notice! :embarassed:

If this is the best VW can do, and taking into account their cost cutting stint which looks like it will impact on quality, I'm afraid I will be sticking to my Ed 30 for a long time.

strange how a few differences can add up to a much better overall looking car. Sorry but ive always considered the mk5 ugly I mean yes it drives fantastic and I like what theyve done with the GTI brand but come on the mk4 was a way better looking motor. Id never have a 4 tho cos of the driving dynamics but as a piece of design it was much better than the 5 and I think VW have realised.

I personally think the mark 5 is a great looking car, albeit in the GTI/R32 guise. Not so much a fan of them aesthetically when they are a run of the mill TDI

exactly so if you look at the photos on this page its a standard 6 so imagine what the R32 and GTI versions will be like!

I think with all new cars, we automatically slag them! I wasnt a particular fan of the 5 when it first came out, but it grew on me and the R32 appeared and that was it.

Im sure that as we see these around and the sportier models appear, our moods will change.
