shock/spring labour cost?

i've just got a set of shocks and springs and now need them fitting. i got a quote from a garage of £200, is this too much or is it reasonable?

If you're lowering the car you'll need camber and tracking adjusted as they will change.

Make sure it's included in the price.

Sounds about right, might be worth ringing around a few places first before booking it in.

If your in the west london area, I know a VW guy who will do it for £100 cash in hand.

Kwik-misfit offered to do mine all round for £238 including the shocks. I asked about adding new springs and they said if I provided them, they'd do it for free as it's part of the process.

Cheap as chips including parts if you are willing to allow monkeys to do it.

At least their work is 'guaranteed' I suppose.

I'll give the garage a ring and check the camber and tracking will be done for the same price then, thanks

Been quoted between 150-200 quid for shocks, springs etc but will deffo check that includes camber and tracking.

Why not do it yourself and then go to a garage and get the tracking and camber set up? It shouldnt be too hard but then again changing the shocks you got to be careful the spring doesnt smack you. Recently replaced the drive gaitor and the camber was out, pulling to the right when before it pulled to the left. Just adjusted 2 bolts and now it pulls to the left again but its not bad pulling, you probably have to get a few hundred meteres before you really notice anything.

I was going to suggest the same - but then got to thinking about the tools needed.
Like spring compressors and large cranked ring spanners and good hex drives etc.
Or an angle grinder to cut up the spring and shock rod so I could get the top swivel bearing plates out! Yes was doing a spring/shock change on one car and I could not undo the top nut/hex combo.

It's all about having the tools, workshop, time and patience really.

I'm sure it's an easy job if everything goes as planned but garages have all the right tools to cover any problems.

Gives you a bit of piece of mind aswell if they're reputable.
