« on: 31 January 2007, 21:57 »
grrrr

went to cheekily drop the front of my mk3 gti this afternoon, 2 hours each side should be plenty.

then i find out i need some stupid slotted tool / socket in order to get the top mount bolt off..... cause thats makse bloody sence!

are these funny little things readily available from a dub dealer?
and is there anythin else i need to watch out for when changing front springs while im here having a mini rant?

grrrr

can get them from gsf or ebay, or you could use a pair of pliers and sh!tloads of patience. spring compressors are a good idea as well.

Ha.

I changed my shocks today for coilovers and have had the same problem! We used pilers
but i dont think we got them tight enough. Ive just ordered one for my Mk2. From GSF.

The Mk3 sounds the same. Part number was : 98743 or 98744 have a look.

That will be the slotted socket you need, Which you can make using an old 13mm deep socket.....typical vw as everything is engineered (try removing the driveshaft's as these have splined bolt's holding them in and require another special tool)
