Audi 80 2L engine.

Currently looking into a 2L from and Audi 80. I'm not sure at this stage what the engine code is but the first thing I can see from the photo is that it is fitted 90 degrees to the one in my golf. I assume that it is a rear wheel drive as opposed to front wheel and thats why its fitted that way.
So my question is, has anyone fitted an engine from an Audi 80 and will there any problems with the mounts.

I'm hoping to use the bottom end in my Brawds Mk1 gti, and I don't want to be fabricating mounts, I just want to slam it in.

Any comments will be much appreciated.

I think all the mouting points should still be fine. Can we see the pic you have? Also if you could get an engine code it would be allot easier to advise. Its stamped into the flat of the block above the oil coller.

As I said, I don't have the engine code as of yet but I will be getting it soon. In the mean time here is a picture of the engine in place:



As you can see, its mounted 90 degrees to the golf.

Audi 80's are front wheel drive and have what is called a transaxle gear box. ie, logitudonally (spelling?) mounted, but driving the front wheels.
Engines are basically the same but as for swaps, I don't know. I think the starter motors are mounted differently if memory serves me well. Golf ones mounted from the gearbox side and Audi's mounted from the engine side. But needs verification. Just do alot of homework.

The code is a 6a engine, think you need to swap a few bits over from the golf kr engine like oil pick up and sump and all the inlet manifold and that
