I would get hold of some plumbers freeze spray if your gonna try the vice and large socket route.

Take the hub of the car and put in in your oven to heat it up, then whilst still warm spray freeze spray onto the  bearing. hopefully the difference in expansion and contraction of the parts will make it easier to get the bearing out.

Would buy ya bearing from any motorfactors, which ever one gives you the best price, simple reason is they are all the same make, i changed mine on my mk2 golf last year, they where gettin on my nerves, and when i took them out they wherethe same make as original ones, got mine from unipart

Have you thought about trying a bearing suppliers?

theres one near me called godiva bearings and I've used them before.

Well I've asked around and none of my mates have an hydraulic press but a couple of them are keen to put funds towards any tools that we may need for future work on the cars.

How much would we be looking at for a press and where would we get one from?
