wet servo

i have a 3" wide wet patch that runs down my servo and bulkhead will this be the master cylinder and how do you test it to see if it is leaking also when i topped up the reservoir the cap had  metalic grey looking brake fluid on it what will be causing that and finaly as my servo is very rusty what ather models will a servo be interchangable on all help appreciated as i have spent all day changing brake pipes and cables and am sick of king brakes

are the breaks spongy?

master cylinders are not too expensive

the servo's are not cheap. £200+  :cry:

its a 90 8v gti and bled the brakes today pedal solid then went for a test drive and pedal went softer by the end of it also ran fingers under master cylinder and fluid was there so does this mean that i need a new master cylinder or are there some seals that need changing cheers

change the master cylinder mate. a reconditioned one is quite cheap.

Ive been told that a g60 or 16v master cylinder is better but im no expert

cheers blue what about servo is it worth changing while master cylinder is off as mine looks quite rusty
