Looking for advice on buying GTI
« on: 27 January 2007, 12:36 »
Hi,

Im defecting from BMW (330cd) and looking to buy a GTI. I am thinking of either the 3dr GTI or possibly the 3dr Ed30 GTI but I dont like the wheels on the Ed30 so not sure if the +30hp is worth it.

Anything I should definately get as an extra? I am used to all the toys in my BMW but only have around 1.5k for extras.

Also does anyone know what the Ed30 engine note sounds like? Can you hear the turbo more than the normal GTI? Im used to the growl of a 3.0t which I hope will be replaced well by a nice sounding GTI :-)

Cheers guys,

SP

for 1500, u can blow it all on DSG, which is a little bit faster than a manual and being automatic will be more comfortable in traffic.

or if you prefer manual, u can get a mixture of small things like pearl/metalic paint, steering wheel buttons, arm rest, luxury pack/sunroof.

or u can blow the full 1500 on leather seats.

after buying an already spec'd GTi off the shelf new and not having a chance to pick and choose, the only thing I regret not having in bi-xenon headlamps, which as documented on this site are impossible to fit aftermarket if you want them.
