New member, close to getting MK3 gti 16v
« on: 26 January 2007, 13:56 »
Right guys, deal isn't quite done yet but is looking close, owner may even be a member on here  But I am selling my MR2 turbo (mainly due to never using it) and taking a P plate MK3 Golf GTI 2.0 16v in PX. Have been mooching through the site to see what the score is and just thought I would say hey and hopefully be a fully fledged GTI owner soon
Be sad to see my MR2 go since I have owned then for the past 5 years  but quite excited about owning my first GTI

Hi Reece,

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll enjoy the 16V. Have you taken it for a test run? I think it'll drive differently to your MR2 Turbo, but hopefully it'll be much more refined.

No not yet buddy, been sorting out money side of things first. I am expecting it to be completely different to be honest definitely more refined  as the previous owner had spent £25k on her, suspension was stiff
My old Mr2 used to run 303HP and rear wheel obviously as are all MR2 turbos. But I never used it as we have a Lil girl to so its sat still for months staring at me. Ive always had a fondness for the golf gti being raised in the 80's we all did
Insurance used to be a problem till I got older and built my my n/c. At the moment I have had one quote for £500 fully comp but hoping to get it cheaper with my current company.

Just hope the deal goes through now.

Lol Dunno about that mate but Ive come close a few times. Mainly down to the sheer power after 3,000rpm all you needed to do was tweak the boost etc.

Part of the reason I was / am selling is down to wanting something a bit more comfy and easier to drive daily. Just so happens that its still a nice car I am being offered

Just want ti to go through now so I can start being obsessed with golfs now instead of cars that cost me £200 for an air filter and £2000 a corner of rubber lol
