what does it mean when the coil light flashes?

Hi there,

When this light flashes it normally means that there is a fault logged in the engine e.c.u.

Check that all your brake lights work ok, as this will also cause this light to come on. and the brake light switches are always failing on these golfs.

If brake lights are ok, then you will need to get your fault memory read.

hi Jochen i checked the brake lights and they dont work so what do you think it is the switch or is there a fuse gone?

i'd put money on the switch had the same on my tdi last month, it's a common problem.
