Nice work savage, looks clean and tidy. Told you photobucket was the way to go!!

Sounds like the problems are easy to fix.

I'd try and get some sort of service history, more for if you come to sell than anything.

Best place for odd bits and pieces are either in the parts for sale on forums or ebay.

Look out for people breaking whole cars that have had accident damage.

I've got lots off ebay, smoked front fog/indicator units, rear light clusters as one of mine had a crack in it, pair of electric mirrors as one stopped working, you'd be surprised how cheap you can get things for.

What have you got planned for it, wheels, suspension??

current plans for car are just to get it to a really good standard condition, probably chuck an induction kit on it just cos i love the note they they give an engine, as for mods wheels have nearly new tyres on, so will keep them for a while and then replace with maybe r32 wheels, gonna have a look at the mods section on the forum and get to a couple of meets to get some ideas.

Glad you're enjoying gti ownership mate!

You mentioned R32 wheels? Gonna need some pretty serious arch work if you're going to try and lower it on those.

I get a bit of scrubbing with my 7x16's (spaced) and they're not that low!

I'd say no bigger than 17's in my opinion.

Enjoy yourself

Hi mate,

Congrats on your purchase, i'm sure you'll enjoy her. Just a quick message to say make sure you check out all the wheel mods fully before you shell out cash.

If you go for some makes and models you'll need adapters or spacers and putting massive wheels on will cost a fortune in rolling arches and suspension. Make sure you plan your wheels carefully. I run 17in Rial's and am in process of lookin for a suspension kit.

Best thing to do is ask on the forum if you've got a question, chaps on here have helped me no end already and i've only been around a couple of weeks!

More tales of new gti ownership,

Waiting to give the car a good service before i go to mad, but the sun came out today so went for a leisurly one down the lanes.

I may have mentioned before that i drive new cars on a daily basis as i work for a leading car hire company, but i kidd you not driving that ten year old gti is a better experience than driving eighty percent of the cars at work i.e the mercs and alfa's (159's r good thou). An as i arrived home, what lets me into my turning mkII gti with a little nod of the head.

Re. the wheels, gonna just stick with the standard alloys for a while i don't intend to distract to much from the original car.

Rock on!!
