ANOTHER GTI VIRGIN

Hi everyone,

New to the site and currently looking for my first mk4, bit depressed actually, drove 40 miles today to look at a 3dr 16v with leather interior, looked good on the advert for 2200 but when i got there you could see it had just bin shined up and had lots of faults :cry:, so am i expectin to much trying to get a good example mk4 16v with a budget of 2k??, any advice appriciated

That could be either, 98 was changeover year  :grin:

how stupid do i feel thats the baby, want one want one want one, lovely motor mate, i'm really itchin to get one as jus turned thirty and want a iconic motor that i can take pride in,

Hi welcome good finding a car dont rush but im sure they are plenty of good ones out there. I think it must be a mk 3 I doubt 2k would buy a mk 4. Im Forum sponsor let let me know if you ever need any thing  :smiley:

hello mate, looks like your looking for a mk3 if you have a look in the cars for sale section. there`s a few nice ones for sale in there :wink:


57 plate black 5dr ed30, 1969 bay window devon camper. thats all for now folks, hopefully picking up a wagon tomoz

2k should get you a pretty good mk3 16v gti.

As rtuk said take your time to look at cars properly, don't rush.

One thing i found was people trying to pass an 8v off as a 16v, engine should look like this:



I was very lucky, found a 1 lady owner car with 70k on the clock back in september 2005, i paid £3k, bit steep but i knew it was a good un.

Since then put 20k on the odo and loving every minute of it  :smiley:

I've recently fitted the coilovers and spacers all round, bought the anniversary BBS wheels off a member of this forum last summer.

They are cracking cars, can do loads with them and they are so solid, try finding a ford or vauxhall of the same age that feels/looks as good!

another great looking gti, feelin alot more comfortable about finding my own now, thanks to all who have posted on this subject
