8v digi sometimes feels bogged down
« on: 23 January 2007, 11:32 »
This has been bothering me for a while now!

I can be going along and my car feels really responsive, then just randomly it will feel like i've got 2 fat guys in the back! Completely unresponsive, floor it and it just doesn't have any power compared to normal, doesn't rev as freely etc

There's no pattern to it, i can drive for 3 hours and it won't happen or i can drive for 10 minutes and it will happen. Can be town or motorway driving too.

Any ideas???

dont really have any ideas but i had a similar problem
and it was caused by an alternator on the way out and a corroded lead where
it connects to the starter motor and crap earths

deffo worth checking the alternator output when running, this happened to my rover.eventually it cooked my battery (mmm rotten eggs)

other than that, im no mechanic so i dont know :)

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Check all yr vacuum pipes including the one round the back people miss, and make sure there arnt any splits in the rocker cover breather bung, inlet boot etc etc.  replace the blue sender if you havent already, and check for damaged wires to it.

Could it be due to this:

Tesco 99 ron stuff is all i ever use. I'm going to try an alternative and see what happens.

does it coincide with you or, a passenger, sticking a head out of the window, thus acting as an airbrake

if not i'm stumped!
