New Golf owner from Nottingham

Hi everyone, I've just bought my first Golf. *big cheer*

It's a 1988 tornado red GTI 16v (pictures below). It was originally bought in Germany by an RAF officer, and imported in 1990.  I hope you'll be gentle with me and forgive my general VW ignorance (I've previously owned such great cars as a Renault 5 & Clio and a Vauxhall Astra).

Here's looking to a long and happy time on this board!
