Dilemma

Hi everyone,Hoping you can give me some advice I am looking to buy a runaround can go to 1500quid I have never had a VW and really don't know which is a better buy between the MK2 and MK3 GTI :embarassed:.Which is considered the better car out of the two.Are there any major problems I should look out for,I have also seen a few VR6 around just in my budget should i consider these or best left alone.Your views and advice will really be appreciated. :smiley:

Welcome to the forum  :cool:

The Mk2 is the more agile car and more fun to drive but the Mk3's have more creature comforts. VR6's are the best Mk3's but are a bit thirsty.

It all depends on what you want from a car and what kind of driving you're going to be doing.

The mk2 is the better car for fun but if you want comfort the mk3 is the one.. Also If you want a vr6 check your insurance first as I nearly bought one till my insurer denied cover unless I fitted cat1 security
Mk2 for the weekend and mk3 for every day...that's my opinion!!!!!

The better car all round is definitely the Vr6. But that has its drawbacks.

If its a choice between 16v's then as said the Mk 2 handles better but the Mk 3 has things like ABS and air-con.

So its down to your personal preference!

Hi, ive just got my self a mk2 golf gti, and i was the same as u.neva had a vw, and now i have got one i dont wanna get rid of it :rolleyes: ive had an astra gsi, rs turbo but none of them compare to the golf gti, i cant really give u advice on which to have because i was just askin that question earlier. My golf is runnin 175bhp and ill tell u this.......its fun. So id say get a mk2 golf gti cuz u will neva get bored like u would with a comfy mk3 :grin:
