Hello all Gti ,Lovers and Owners.......

I'm due to buy a VW GOLF GTI..! Ive never owned a Golf but always wanted one.!
After having a Pug GTI-6 (2.0LTR 16V) and a Ford Fiesta ZETEC-S (1.6 16V)
I am now moving on to bigger and better things..! I hope.!?
Well my question is this.!
Ive bidded on a car and i won a VW GOLF GTI threw ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320068613707&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011

This is the car if you can view the link.!

I was just wondering if you could tell me if there is anything i need to look out for in the vehicle,.?? Ive been told about Cambelt and checked from the service history he has stated new cambelt.!
I'm test driving the car Sat and buying it 1 week later.!
Ive been wanting a car like this for years and now i finally have the chance i dont want to make the wrong moves.!
Just cause I'm female they seem to think i dont know much.. i mean i know a lil but would like to go there knowing my stuff..!!
Any advice would be much appreciated.!
Thanks alot

so youve bought a car off ebay without seeing it or test driving it?  brave lass!!!

my advice is to click here first of all: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=38557.0

its a mk4 buying guide done by one of the members here, kinda gives u an idea of what to look out for.

but good luck anyway!!!

You will certainly find a difference over the Pug, nowhere near as fast!
But its not a bad looking car, mileage a bit high for the price.

Good luck and welcome to the Forum.

I don't mean to put a downer on you, but I wouldn't have bought this car. It's the 115bhp model which for the weight of the car means its not quick (your old fiesta would thrash it), the UK is the only country to even label this model as a GTI, everywhere else it's just a highline. They are notorious for bad mpg and drinking oil. The mileage is higher than average (especially for the price) and it will require another cambelt service in 20k miles. If you go to see it and fall in love with it then that's fine, it's your choice at the end of the day. However I think you should try a 1.8T GTI first, you can get them for around the same price, and they have a lot of the 'toys' as standard.

If you need a get-out from the ebay bid then you can say it doesn't have genuine RS4 wheels as advertised, since genuine ones are the wrong fitment for a mk4 golf.
