hi people new to this forum, ive got a problem with my 8v gti, p reg, reverse gear has stripped, ive got the box out, thing is i cant find anyone who has got a box for my car in any of my local breakers, ive been offered one for a 1.8 mk3, but i assume this is going to be different gearing???,  is their any boxs from any seats or audis i could fit, or from another volkswagon, what do you recon lads??,

They supply spares, and break VW's - and are breaking a MK3 gti now
I've used them in the past and found them good,

It might be cheaper to get it recondition ,Ive had a quote for ?160 because my reverse is on the way out(common problem)

post how much a new box is.

thing is with my box,  is the chap who had it before me had been driving the car like it for sometime, and now ive taken the box apart, some of the teath on reverse cog have snapped of and have been grinding all around the other gears, theres loads of swarf eveywhere, so i dont think a recon would help me much.
