new dilemma what to do???
« on: 11 January 2007, 17:49 »
I have the chance to buy this beauty:

some of you may know it - its been to a good few shows, has stacks of history etc....

do I leave the Mk2 behind, and go for it, or do I keep the valver after all the time effort and cash I spent on it??

what do I do????

depends how good a deal you can get...

Is it only a 16v? I thought it was a VR...would have been worth the hassle then.

I'd imagine you can get a baby seat in the back but access would probably be a bit tighter. or would it?  :undecided:

i am sure that is a VR6 bonnet  :undecided:

I would keep the golf to be honest mate, if it was a G60 or a VR6 then maybe.

Martinb has a rado and transports his to little 'uns in the back of his rado so yes, you can fit them in

I wouldn't want a VR or a G60! 2.0 16v is enough - couldn't afford the fuel on a vr or the super charger rebuilds for a G60!

the 2.0valver is chippable though in it??

not sure to be honest.

remember they are quite heavy cars so will not be as fast as a mark 2 16v golf.
does look like a tidy car though

You might have problems with the baby seat, although it depends on the seat. Martinb's got a Carrado now and he's got a couple of kids, ask him ;)

If you're set on having the rado then you can tune them easily enough. Stick in a KR inlet cam, a decent exhaust system from the cat back and get it chipped. Should easily see the right side of 160bhp and a decent torque figure to go with that. Add a p+p head to the mix and you'd be nearer 170bhp and probably 150lb/ft

would be quicker than a mk2 then....unless that's had the same work!
