performance figures

ive stood behind this computer for ages searching and cant find an answer!
what the standard bhp for 8v and 16v mk11 GTi before any mods?!

8v = 112bhp although it might be 114, I can't remember for sure... :undecided:

16v = 139bhp

Obviously in acceleration terms the 16v has the upper hand with the extra power and torque. Don't believe anyone that trys to tell you otherwise, the 16v has more of both all the way through the rev range.

If it's not outright power you're after then go for the 8v. If you're not sure then try both and see which you prefer. Look at a few before buying though, because there can be big differences in performance between the same models after all these years of abuse!

up to about 60mph they are pretty close, afterwards the 16v will just walk away from the 8v

im talking standard 8v vs standard 16v before the envitable barrage of mines faster than this & that
