mk3 drivers - favour needed
« on: 09 January 2007, 12:00 »
bonjourno...

im in need of a favour,

i either need to find out the standard ride height of a mk3 8v gti.

or im after someone whos mk3 is lowered 40mm, to go and measure their ride height for me.

basically im trying to decide wat to do with mine, its already lowered, but not by enough.... so toying with either a 45, 60mm kit, or coilies....

(if anyone doesnt know wat i mean.... the distance between the middle of the center cap on the front wheels, upto the arch)

cheers.....  :nerd:

mines lowered 60mm but on 17s,does that matter before i go and freeze my knackers off!!  just seen a mk3 at hardcore's bodyshop, definatly reckon coil overs are the way to go to be honest! the stance it had was awesome and just makes the car!  :smug:

i do REALLY fancy coilovers.... face down ass up stylee, and as im really picky with how i like the lowering on cars, fk silversports might be the way to go!!!

just worried about them making the ride really hard, used to have a little cinquecento lowered about 70mm and it would rattle your teeth lose, one of the things i love about the golf is how smooth and comfy it is!!

p.s: slim, letting me know your ride height would be cool mate, will give me an idea.... and a pic wouldnt go a miss either lol

thanks bud,its just on a set of uprated springs and shocks, ride isnt too bad until u hit potholes but other than that very firm and quite good for handling etc as for ground clearance,i havent bottomed out yet,and i live in lincolnshire so if i was gonna i wouldve by now as the roads are proper sh!te!

Slim do you get any problems with tyres scrubbing, all it is mate is that I'm in two minds what to do with mine. Ive got 2 kids and live on a street that is a giant speed bump so don't want to be scrubbing every time i go over a speed ramp but i hate the fact i can fit a bus under my front arches. Might go for 30-40mm....

slim, u legend... thats exactly wat i wanted to hear.

so i can add spax -60mm springs to my want list.

im also goin to be after some body work done, if i was to get a 2 slat-debadged grill and side skirt set delivered to hardcore, u think he could paint them and send them back? or is it the sort of thing that would need me to give him the car for a while?
