help needed with rear led lights
« on: 05 January 2007, 22:42 »
just brought these led rear lights.indicators work, lights work.problem is they are wired for left hand drive cars although were advertised for uk.fog light lights up on the left and reverse light, lights up on the right.tried swapping the light looms and it makes em go mad.they plugged straight into original plugs but each unit has a spare wire.one side is red/black the other red/blue.i take it i need to cut a wire on each unit and join them to get the reverse and fog on the rite side of each unit.which wire do i need to cut on each unit is and join is the question

I'm nearly sure it doesn't matter what side each is on?

the problem is when i put the fog light on,the white reverse bulb lights up and  when i put i put it in reverse the red led fog lights come on.tried changing the bulb holders over from each light and it makes the brake lights flash with the indicators.like i say they have a spare wire on each unit apart from the normal plug.i take it this is the wire that needs changing to make them right but dont know which wire os for the fog and which is for the reverse light.

It does matter which side they are on. The foglight on a RHD car is on the right, and on a LHD car it's on the left. Whoever you bought the lights off of have a word with them and see if they've got a duff batch, as I had a set of what were supposed to be Rh but the beam pattern was for LH.

If your a competent lecky, have a go at just linking the wires from side to side, but I'm not sure how this will stand on the MOT.

thats what i thought the fog has to be on the right and the reverse on th left for the mot.i wont mention the company yet but spoke to them 3 times yesterday as they were descibed on ebay as road legal and they told me they were for r/h/d before i ordered them.in my phone calls to them, they made out they have had no other problems with them.they suggested i take them to a auto electrician!you can guess what i told them!!!!they said i cold return them but would not cover my postage as they are working!!!! you can guess my reply to that aswell.if i cant sort them myself without cost they will be delivered in person and shoved where the sun dont shine!!!!

sorted, got me head round it in the end.cut into the wire which was turning the fog on and conected the spare wire and did the same on the other side with the wire which was turning the reverse light on.left negative feedback (but true) feedback as they were descibed as road legal and told before i ordered they were for r/h/d and they had the front to ask me why i left it,ha ha.well after 3 emails and 4 phone calls and no help what do they expect.i gave them a big big peace of my mind though dont worry about that.all i can say is be careful buying lights out there,ITS A JUNGLE!!!!!!!!
