Engine cutting out Help Please!
« on: 05 January 2007, 22:00 »
 Every time I come to lights or a roundabout my golf 8v (aee engine) cuts out, it is as if the stepper motor is not cutting in. Engine goes down to 600revs then will not pick up and stalls. Have changed temp. sensor, cleaned throttle body and fitted new lambda sensor but the engine is still the same. Now going to try and pull my hair out. Any ideas?

Here's a list of problematic part's that go with the cutting out
1 dirty throttle body
2 faulty ecu relay no 30
3 faulty fuel pump relay no167
4 hall sender
5 Crank angle sensor/engine speed sensor
6 ecu temp sensor
7 coil pack

and there in no order it's a matter of swapping bit's till it's ok..If you wan't further info there is a thread at the top of the mk3 listing where people have included their problem's and what they have done to fix

Oh nd I must add "search function" has lot's of similar post's

I had the same problem and went to one garage who couldn't find anything with it and still charged me then went and spoke to a second bloke from a different garage and he gave me a bottle of liquid and told me to put it in to my petrol tank which i did and the car stopped stalling straight away. I'm offshore just now and don't get home till Thursday but ill try and find out the name of it tomorrow and post it on here for you.

I should think it was some sort of fuel treatment that cleans the injectors up. Worth a go for a few squids if nothing else. The ECU relays are a popular problem here and not at all hard to fix once you've found them!
It's urban right? That means it must be tougher, obviously.... ;-)

My ecu temp sensor went but it caused the car to have trouble starting, once it was running it never cut out, so I doubt its that.
