my dub knowledge is faily limited... but the theory is all the same so here goes.

7x16's on a mk2 shouldnt be too much of a problem, it depends mainly on the offset of the wheels... if u could get it so that the outside edge of the wheel sits just inside the arch, then even with an extreme lowering job u shouldnt scrub.

IM(rather limited)O 7x16's on about a 35-38 offset with 195/40/16 tyres shouldnt cause you much worries.

The ones I'm looking at are 195/45/16 - I'm wondering if that's too large. The company that sells them says straight on with no problem, but then they would.

and in all honesty mate... 16's on a 40mm drop shouldnt be a problem on a mk2!  :cool:

Yeah - 7" and ET38 with 195/45/16s. Fine I guess. Thanks for everyone's contributions - a quality forum this  :cool:
