Not in a mk2, but a mate has a 6spd QUAIFE box and the matching LSD in his 1.8t mk1.
He got it from the USA for $11000nzd approx 3660gbp. Megabucks i know, but it is just totally amazing and damn near bulletproof!
Car is pumping out about 245bhp at the moment, and it sure as hell has legs to it
He plans to take the car up to the 280-300bhp mark.

Car is in new zealand.

Maybe you could  find a 6spd box from the mk4 2.8 24v 4Motion or the S3 from a wrecker?

The QUAIFE is a honey of a gearbox, it really pushes the 1.8t out to another place

He was going to put this sequential 6 speed one in the golf, but the wife said no! Cost $18000nzd approx 6000gbp
This one is in a mk1 Scirocco 16v...I hope those viewing this have broadband.

i believe an 02j or 02t 6 speed box is the one. The bigger 02m box found on mk4 gti's wont fit easy. An 02j or 02t is the same as o2a, with a slightly longer cap on the end to accom 6th gear.
