Fitting Rear-axle Bushes
« on: 29 December 2006, 16:42 »
Hi.. Recently fitted these, and would like to extend help to anyone attempting this job... :undecided: You are very welcome to fone me on 07865073124 for specific advice...  It  can be done at home  So if you need to watch the dollars, and  are a " Have-a-go-Hero" ... then go for it... Get Two new Bolts and Nuts ,plenty of hacksaw blades, some blocks,Get it as high and safe as possible, get all the old Rubber out first
(after dropping the Axle-two big bolts, the bolt on the nearside will have to be cut twice to remove it,as there aint enough room to take it out..), then get sawing, paying attention when you start getting near the housing... Once you are fully through
(It is decieving.. So CAREFUL inspection necessary, probably many times you will think you are through), they will come out with a small chisel underneath the old bush casing...  :cool:When out a good glass-papering and greasing... Then its time to grind a very small amount of the new bushes Evenly... You will then need  a Long Strong Bolt(ideally the same bore as the Bolt that will hold the Bush, but longer),two nuts, and a couple of BIG washers... Time to fit the new Bushes...  Fone me if necessary...  The Securing of the axle with the new bushes in is tricky... but only on the nearside.... You have to remove a tiny bit of the sill, where the end of the new bolt wants to go, Drop the actual Axle mount (3 Bolts), and work away.. Its straightforward, yet awkward, and will Drain any last Vestiges of Strength you may have... If you're stuck fone me>>> All the best,
Paul....
