« on: 28 December 2006, 10:21 »
Morning Everyone,  just trying to find out if this is a common problem & if so is there an easy fix ? I have just bought  a 2000 mk4 1.8t and the offside rear caliper is binding , it has only done 38000k and all short journeys , I,ve not had a proper look yet & thought the forum would be the best place to get some answers, cheers guys hope you can help , Neil

hey,

I had a similar problem except mine was slightly seized open at about 68k, the garage I took it to was able to strip the caliper down and grease it and it has been fine since.  Not before the disk was warped and had to be replaced though........

might be worth checking the hand brake cable as water can make them seize especially when the weather get's cold..if not a good clean up can help.....
