HELP! fitted a new MAF sensor & now losing mpg!

I have recently fitted a brand new air mass meter on my gti 20v non turbo but now instead of doing 330 miles on a tank of fuel it's gone down to 280 ! Just wondering if anyone has any ideas why the mpg has took a nose dive. I have checked the fitment of it and also made sure it's the right part.

theres a small pipe coming of the pipe connected to the air mass, see if its in propler

Hi Jayy, i have had a look but cannot see a pipe anywhere. the only thing attached to the MAF sensor (apart from the air box & the large pipe) is the connecting plug and the wire to this goes off into the bulkhead.

uno the pipe connecting to the airbox and maf? isnt there a another smaller pipe coming off there? its kind of hiden...you would have to remove the engine cover...guess you alrdy have.....hmmmmm
