As for the original post...I'm surprised the Civic driver even bothered trying seeing as they have a 50bhp advantage over the mk3! Typical idiot who sees the GTI badge on a Golf and instantly thinks that means a race is on

"Civic type R would spank all standard GTI's in a straight line, maybe not so on the twisties."
Thats exactly what happend, saw the badge and up for a race.
Well the story went like this........................
im at the lights and just got away qiuckly i didnt even see the type r driver, on a dual carriageway.
Civic comes up flying behind me and a roundabout is approaching, kept the power on and the !6s handle very well ( not sure how the other golfs handle but i rekon a mk3 on 16s anni wheels is pretty good)
anyway gained some ground, lights change to red inthe distance i now slow down with light traffic and he comes up behind me in my lane.
Lights go green,
Accelerate in traffic all the cars infront move over and i accelerate hard with the civiv up my arse
anyway still on the dual carriageway i stay in my lane, he moves to the left and now there are 2 cars infront of us, basically blocking our path. a lane opens up on the left ina few 100m civic goes undertakes the guy floors it now hard,
THEN the driver in front cuts him up hard! and goes into his lane!! Near crash!!! he slams on the brakes, hand on his horn. i take the middle lane and pass him and another roundabout is approaching i gain some ground on the roundabout and turns into a single lane now short distance to next roundabout he turns right i go straight.
Story over.
