engine coolant
« on: 21 December 2006, 10:32 »
the last two mornings the dash has been telling me to check the engine coolant but i don't seem to have that part of the manual (3.2) can anyone tell me where the coolant is located on a mk iv golf.  if it is low does it just need to be topped up or does it need to be drained and replaced.

cheers
ben

the expansion tank in the top left corner of this picture is where you need to be looking

You should be able to see how low the coolant is, if it's well below the "min" marker then its probably best to top up with a correct coolant mixture. If it only needs a little then topping up with water will be fine.

checked coolant and was sitting on the top line above the minimum line.  is this the maximum (like oil) or should the tank be compteley full?
