I get around 30-37 mpg out of mine average. I once got 40.1mpg  but it can go down to around 25mpg if it gets a booting!

I doubt very much that you get 30-37 average out of a VR.

Unless you drive around like a granny!

I've got a 16v and i usually average 31-35 over a lot of miles, mixture of town/single carriageway/motorway, highest i've seen is 43 think on a long run.

I usually get 300-330 out of a tank so 250-300's not bad for a VR6.

Tank on mine is 50 litres so presumably it's the same on a VR.

Thanks for the replies everyone. She is a bit more happier now. I think she is just annoyed that we used to own a mk4 diesel which she was getting about 450 miles out of a tank. Many thanks again all,

erm - I would think it was obvious that a 2.8 V6 petrol would never even get CLOSE to the MPG from a diesel?????

Since I've owned the car, I've got an average of 28.4mpg (on MFA-2) - normally on the motorway I get 30-34 on the commute... What made a huge difference was tyre pressures - the VR requires 2.4 & 2.2 bar in them (or was it 2.6 & 2.4 bar?)
