Mileage on a GTI 1.8 T

I'm going to be looking for a MK4 GTI 1.8 T and there seem to be quite a few about in the price range im looking (IRO 4.5 - 5k) that are around the 100k mark.

How good are these engines for clocking up miles, obviously service history is important but must it be VW?

What sort of things should i look out for if i go for one with this sort of mileage on?

Mines on 87k and still feels like it did when it had 55k...brilliant engine. Check the cambelt, tensioners and water pump have been changed though.

Well i've just bought a totally standard 99 T plate 3 door in Blue it has 92k but looks and drives like new!! Has FSH and the belt, tensioners and pump have all been done...  :cool:

Hello mate mine 89k never misses a beat only complaint is that the recaros are starting to squeek and make clunking noises ,as long as it serviced regulary she be fine
