which dash lights should come on with ignition

Hi guy's , just about to buy my first golf,  a 1.8t GTi , i,ve looked at a few and none of them seem to bring up the same number of lights when the ignition is turned on,they all go off when the engine is running but how many is the right number?

How many lights?  Well as long as they all go off thats the importnt part!  It depends on what year and what options you have?  What year and which engine?  (AUM's are drive by wire and they have a light which indicates the health of the DBW system)

Thanks for the reply, it's a very early 2000 car on a 'V' ,climate, xenon's, all very standard, 2 owners and only 40K on the clock, full vwsh, not sure on full spec of car but should be collecting it at the weekend
