Neaty - the MK II diesel engine is bullet proof, and v economical for an old lump.

Thanks mate.  The red shines up nice.  Re the tyres, an old, slightly mental, ex-army, car crazy guy, I once knew told me that cleaning your car and not blacking-up the tyres was like getting dressed up and ready to go out and not polishng your shoes.

Thanks Neaty.  I wanted a black one, but the red has really grown on me - I think the red complements the alloys nicely, esp with the red brake callipers.

Thanks.  I agree with the red car thing, and had my reservations, but when it's claen it looks pretty sweet.

i think golfs always suit red, like a classic colour to have if you see what i mean.
