took it down welders today to get a few holes sorted out that needed doing and it turns out its got more holes than a golf course >:( heres what it needs
windshield frame
sills both sides
new floor literally speaking
rear panel lights plate (both)
a quarter panel( back bit)
patch work in egine bay
the thing is the bloke who passed its mot last week was sh1te he didnt pick up on anything.
im gonna get some pics posted! you got to see it to believe it.

sorry to hear that jason, i know it need that bit of welding on the floor, i was amazed when you said it passed an mot without having it done!!!!, i think your welder may be trying to get extra dosh out of you cause i know it werent that bad, i would never had sold it if i new you were going to have bother with it!!!!, if your going for a total restoration job then yes it may need a few bits doing, but the car was a run around car for me and was never going to win 1st prize in a show and shine competition!!, well wether you decide to get the work done or not youve got far more dosh worth in parts  than what you bought it off me for!!!

not having a go at u m8..u werent to know. as for the welder hes a mate so wouldnt think he would try to rip me off put to much work his way.
oh well dont know what to do wether to restore or not.......need help getting panels any advice? not euro car parts but any other companys will do cheers
as vr6 said only got it for 300 and he can do the welding for a couple of hundred minus parts so i think i may go ahead....was more angry at the garage that did the mot, they should have picked up the floorpan was rotten at least.....dont think im gonna make it to newark tomorow :( but will make the next meet hopefully if the old girls back to her original glory

you have to be carefull as even the newest mk2`s are gettin on for 12yr old now,its ok seeing nice shiny bodywork buts it whats behind the bodykit and underneath where the old tin worm will be lurking I`ve seen some nasty goings on in these regions on mk2  GTI`s a lot newer than yours as well,you pays your money and takes your chances at least you only spent ?300 and can get it sorted out hope it all goes ok,

ive noticed your wipers are on the diffrent side to mine? what has Mc Knite been up to with that car ???

on the log book it states it was an import??? dont know if that helps
