Paint for Brakes

Hi folks,
Does anybody know where i would find some red paint for my brake calipers.
Would Halfords be a good start???

yeah you can buy red caliper paint in halfords
dunno if its good stuff though never painted my calipers before

aye ive used hammerite before , as good as the 'caliper' paint and cheaper . i did my calipers on my 205 with hammerite and it stayed on there for years with no problems abnd i track day'd that car too so heat isnt a problem for it either

As mentioned. hammerite is the way to go..
ensure you wire brush them down and remove all loose bits of rust and give it a couple of coats..we dont want any pink calipers now do we..

Only if you mix white with the red Dinx!

Thats the other point if you do decide on a special colour you can mix Hammerite.
Oh and obviously use the smooth type!

i painted my brake calipers with halfords red caliper paint and they look smart, i suggest if you do it, wire wool them, spray brake cleaner on them and then wipe them over with thinners. hope this helps,

Personally when I did my other car I took the calipers right off and put them on my bench grinder and used my angle grinder on the difficult bits!
Then cleaned em and made sure there was no dust on them.

I've used hammerite before with no probs, and there's obviously more choice available.
Oh, and if you do decide to use the Halfords option - buy the stuff from the specialist paint bit, not the lacquer from the Ripspeed section - that's too expensive for what it is.
