Why does she rev up after starting??
« on: 05 December 2006, 20:42 »

I don't know if this is a problem but whenever i start my car when cold (and i never use the throttle pedal) why does my car rev to about 2000rpm when it first start's and then it idle's normally, it all way's starts first time and run's perfect. It's just on my last golf it never revved similar. This golf has the siemens system and it sounds like i press the accelerator to start up......
Any one else come across this as a problem worth fixing or is it just what these system's run like??

My 1.8GL does something similar, depress the accelerator only about 1mm within a minute of starting it and it will rev up to 2000rpm and stay there for what seems like ages before dropping down to normal again. Cleaned the throttle body out at the weekend though and now is doesn't do it nearly as much.
