Cheers man

Bare in mind im 18 and only have 1 years ncb (well with have in feb when I sell the spaxo) so a GTI is out of question, need something under a group 10 really! A saxo VTR is a group 7 and has around the same power as a 1.8 soooo

I know what you mean about the French nightmares.. not really the bets in a crash!

And thanks Len405 its been my username on www.saxperience.com for a year or so and 3k + posts so I figured why change? ;)

golfdan hmmm lol

hello and welcome

I got my first GTI when i was 18, was on my parents insurance though but worth it. That was for a Mark 2 16v.
You should be ok with a years no claims, i havnt got any at the moment which is a pain when it comes to insuring cars

no seriously i say this now and to any new driver/young driver... dont pay over the odds for modded underpowered shat cars, pay the extra on the insurance get a cheaper hot hatch and go for it , honestly shop around and youll see what i mean...

when i was 17 in 1992 i had a c reg 85 xr3i in white done up as a rs turbo custom, car cost me a grand and insurance was £1400 , but at the time for a 7 year old car that looked like something damn fast and wasnt like some of the 950 fiestas and stuff my mates were driving it was great... i had 16v ashtray gte 's and alsorts mate,

so do it..

welcome buddy

if you can get a golf you wont regret it the quality is soooo much better than a saxo i know i have had one
what about getting a diesel and remaping it insurance will be cheap and it will be pretty fast

i have always had pretty fast cars i had nova sr's when i was 17-18 and when i was 19 i got a 205 gti

Hey Slick#13 whats an arrow?

And back to kniteriders comment, thanks for getting back to me :)

Im not really into modding cars the only thing modded about my saxo is the lowerd suspension, but it was like that when I got it  :embarassed:

I only have about £1500 to play with when looking for a golf and dont want to be paying more than £100 in insurance witch is what a 1.8 will be

Im not overly fussed on speed, just looking for something a bit nippyer than a 1.1 haha and something thats built well, relaible and looks mean! (mk3 golfs)

But I will look into a cheaper GTI maybe a mk2?

Thanks again for your advice, your a freindly bunch here :)
