Urgent help needed with MOT fail
« on: 01 December 2006, 08:36 »
Hi guys, your advice is very much needed!

I have a 'run about' VW Golf MK3 1.8 GL 1993. MOT runs out on 4th Dec. I took it in yesterday and it failed with sill corrision, brake pipe corrision and a possible ball joint. The labour charges will be around £250 and parts around £50-100.

In short I haven't got the ability or time to do it myself (as the labour charges are the killer). The car recently had the top half of the engine rebuilt. The interior is in excellent condition. The wheel arches have had a respray with a slight colour mismatch (before I got it in september).

How best to get rid for the best price to regain some cash back. eBay? Anyone want to make an offer for spares? Auction?

Cheers,
Dave

being honest a 1.8 gl will never fetch decent money, esp as you can get a gti for about £400 now, albeit a ratty one. parts might get you the most but it'll only be panels etc as the engine/interior aren't worth much compared to gti stuff. sorry.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
