MKIII Clutch/Gbox
« on: 30 November 2006, 13:22 »
Hi Guys,

New to site and VDubs, have had my MKIII for 4 months after having mercs,BMs as company cars....

My 96P has just passed MOT with flying colours, but have been noticing that from junctions etc going from 1st to 2nd gear @ 3000rpm it clunks into gear if I go slower it is fine going into gear and all other gears seem fine although have noticed some difficulties going into first from idle. It may be because of pulling away fast or that travelling into N London I am forever stop/starting through traffic.

Any ideas, is it clutch or gearbox?

Change up before 3000rpm then mate thats your answer!

Mine has its moments, and I have similar problems at times, its just that that particular change doesnt like to be rushed.
I also have the getting into 1st problem. I just play with the stick, putting it into other gears then its fine.

Its general wear and tear on a 9/10 year old car thats all. Live with it!
