hi guys,

I'm pretty new to the forum infact this is my first post though i have been trawling the posts looking for misfire soloutions for my k reg Golf gti MK3 8 v 87k miles, Ive only had this car a week and bought it cheap knowing there was problems with running the more Ive looked into the car the more i can see someone has done the usual things to try and fix it which i will list below, anyway i recently read that a commen soloution to the misfire was to change the fuel pump and ECU relays so popped out to the car to look above the fuse box at the relays where i noticed there is 2 lots of 5 slots for them on the top row the middle 3 are filled (no 72,30,81) and on the bottom row only slot 2 (no 99) and slot 5 (no 53) have relays in the rest are empty

can this be right?    gonna try and pick up a Haynes manual today as i have neither that or the owners handbook

what number is the fuel pump relay? as i have been told below the ecu is 30

the usual has been done dizzy, leads, plugs, new air filter, back and center box on exhaust(as they had leaks), cleaned the isv, checked all the electrical plugs for dirt, cleaned the throttle body

anyway thx in advance for any help u can think of

Sounds as if the ECU relay is missing! Thats 30 on a 16v assume its same in an 8v.

Not sure of the number! When I did it I just went to a VAG dealer told em what I wanted and changed the corresponding number!
I know the Haynes numbers are wrong for a 16v.

Do a search for it in the SEARCH facility above.
