didnt u just wish u had just an extra £2500 so you could of gone one better!

more like 2k even. ive always said that if u want the performance and flare that much, get the GTI. if u dont, save 2k and get the TSI sport.

nice car nonetheless.

Fill,

theres more to this than the list price - I work with fleets of cars and you find that the discounts you can get from VW on the GT is much better then the GTi , therefore the difference may be a great deal more than the price you have mentioned.

it may be cheaper, but the gt isnt in the same league as the gti's. If you own a GT and you see a gti pass you, you think, dam it, i want one of those !!, and if you own a GTI, and u see a rare sight of an MK5 R32 then you wish, if i only had one of them!. Well i always think that. Theres always something better, whatever you buy, they always bring something else out "better" and makes you wanna splash the cash for it. Same as all things you buy, it gets bettered buy something else.
I think the words, FASTER, SPORTIER,FACELIFT, MK6, should be band!!!!!!

im just not lucky enough to be in say doc's position being able to get the nxt best thing, just wish my mk5 gti will always be a great car and not be bettered!

Phil I had a Mk5 GTI and now have an R32 and initial impressions of the R32 blew me away. The R32 is a beast and the engine is just awesome.  HOWEVER, if I had to make a choice between the two I would go for the Edition 30 GTI (with an ECU Re-Map, LSD, carbon fibre bonnet, rear hatch, side/front skirts and grill ).  Why? Because the GTI is more fun to drive.  The R32 is a mature car - a grown up hot-hatch.  I think I read recently in a magazine that it was a 'gentlemans' hatchback.  I also remember reading a review a year ago where the reviewer compared the R32 as an axe bludgeoning its way through everything, compared to the GTI  which had finesse like a samuri sword.  I now understand what they meant.  Don't get me wrong, for day-to-day driving and speed, the R32 cannot be beat, but for thrills and fun stick with the GTI.  I'm lucky to have the opportunity to be able to afford both - was planning to get rid of the R32 shortly after getting the Edition 30, but I like the R32 so much - esp with DSG - that I'ill have to keep it for a bit longer

or, if you see a gti pass them then watch them strugglin to keep up with you - U can see them thinkin jeez theyre much quicker than I thought and £2k plus cheaper!  (and its diesel)

that said would love one of the special edition 30 jobbies!
