R32 mods
« on: 24 November 2006, 14:56 »
I have an R32 and having just sold my Impreza, it feels a bit slow. This was only to be expected and not specific to the car. The R32 is so much more refined, comfortable etc etc etc and with the DSG box, it makes driving effortless.

So, my question is, is there a chip available or any mods which can improve the performance?

2nd question would be the fuel, the dealer told be normal unleaded (95 RON) however, have heard it has to have Super (at least 98 RON)? Is this correct and what would be the result of running it permanately on 95 RON?

I'm sure the VW Golf brochure says you can use 95 ron for both the GTi and R32 but performance will be reduced.

Incidentally, my dealer has an R32 that was chipped by AMD and is now pushing 280bhp through a DSG box. And if you get them mchipped by VW they maintain their warranty.

Sorry - that was a typo. Was just saying that VW will chip them and maintain the warranty. At least thats what my local dealer offered.

You can find AMD here www.amdtechnik.com but i guess you have to go through VW to get the warranty bonus.

Else i believe Morego will chip them and you can pay a small premium for their warranty.

If you ran an Impreza then you will know the importance of having the best fuel in it.  I had a P1 for nearly 4 years and only ran it on optimax/Vpower, sometimes used NF octane booster also.  So get the best fuel you can, whether it be Vpower, or Tesco 99.
